The CVIIC Immigrant Entrepreneurs Program: New Study

The CVIIC Immigrant Entrepreneurs Program: New Study

A new study has been released that examines the CVIIC Immigrant Entrepreneurs Program (IEP), which was created in 2020 to serve Latino immigrants residing in the Central Valley of California. The study has been made possible thanks to a grant from the San Joaquin Valley Health Fund (SJVHF).

The study, Empowering Central Valley Latino Immigrants: CVIIC’s Immigrant Entrepreneurs Program, features the research conducted by Dr. Gilda Gonzalez-Zarate, in which she carries out intensive interviews with program participants, examining their interest in entrepreneurship, connecting the entrepreneurial journey to their respective immigrant experiences, and considers their aspirations for socio-economic mobility while in the Central Valley. It is an insightful study offered by Dr. Gonzalez-Zarate that sheds needed insights into an area of research that requires more attention from immigrant serving entities.

The study also includes introductory sections by CVIIC’s Executive Director, Jesus Martinez, explaining how the program (IEP) fits within the organization’s mission and work in the region, the reasons and process by which it was created, and how it has evolved since the program began to be implemented in 2020.

Since its creation, the IEP has already served hundreds of Latino immigrant entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, providing free entrepreneurial training opportunities, connecting them to the resources and services offered by numerous partner organizations, and offering individual technical assistance. CVIIC has found the life stories of the participants to be inspiring and, as an organization, has learned much from their objectives, achievements, and aspirations.
